POSITION SUMMARY:
As a part of the DAS engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer I will design, develop, and assemble novel products for our military and commercial clients. You will work with senior engineers to apply fundamental engineering principles to analyze, design, develop, and test technology components, subsystems, and systems. Common tasks include designing new enclosures, packages and mechanical fixtures for deployable sensor systems, developing thermal and stress analyses of electromechanical systems using Solidworks, assembling prototypes and revising designs with simplified interfaces. This position reports to the VP of Engineering.
We are currently hiring for full-time, on-site positions.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in the design cycle of mechanical subsystems, which may include conceptual and detailed design, trade studies, development testing and qualification
Perform engineering calculations to validate component and system design
Review manufacturing drawings to ensure form, fit and function
Create documentation for assembly and testing of development hardware
Prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
Designing, ordering, assembling, and evaluating design features to ensure form fit and function
Perform assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of novel commercial and military hardware.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field. We are looking for long-term teammates. The skills listed below are a big plus, but we’re ready to train the right people.
Skills:
Proficiency with mechanical CAD design from concept through prototype and manufacturing using Solidworks.
Knowledge of basic engineering and physics principles as they apply to hardware design and product development.
Knowledge of manufacturing technologies and approaches, including additive and subtractive manufacturing techniques.
Ability to develop technical documentation, including 2D technical drawings and written technical documentation.
Ability to work independently and on a team to keep projects moving forward.
Detail-oriented and able to catch problems early on so that the engineering team can troubleshoot guarantee that we produce a quality product.
Ability to use basic tools to assemble electronic and mechanical assemblies.
Experience:
0-3 Years of experience
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or related field) required
Experience with working in hardware design, prototyping, 3D modeling and computer-aided drafting (CAD) in an internship, school projects, or professional environment
SECURITY CLEARANCE:
This position requires that the candidate be willing and able to complete a successful background screening for a US DoD security clearance.
